Interventional Radiology Options

Understand the procedure by understanding the problem first.

Start with the problem you are trying to solve, then understand how each treatment works, what it is designed to treat, and what the alternatives are.

Treatment Library

Minimally invasive does not mean one-size-fits-all.

Interventional radiology can treat blood vessels, tumors, bleeding, urinary symptoms, fibroids, venous disease and selected musculoskeletal pain through image-guided techniques.

Prostate Artery Embolization

PAE is an arterial treatment for selected men whose urinary symptoms are truly related to BPH. A catheter is guided from the wrist or groin to the prostate arteries; tiny particles reduce blood flow and the gland gradually shrinks.

Important: PAE should be compared with UroLift, Rezūm, TURP, HoLEP, Aquablation, medication, and other urologic options rather than presented in isolation.

Uterine Fibroid Embolization

Uterus-preserving treatment for symptomatic fibroids.

Genicular Artery Embolization

Emerging option for selected patients with painful knee osteoarthritis after conservative care.

Musculoskeletal Embolization

Emerging use for selected chronic inflammatory shoulder and other MSK pain conditions.

Pelvic Vein Embolization

For selected symptomatic pelvic venous reflux patterns.

Other IR Procedures

Biopsies, angiography, angioplasty, thrombectomy/thrombolysis, tumor embolization and ablation are among the broader services associated with interventional radiology.
